Cowboy Marketplace Show Recap
WOW! What a week. I think we discovered that 10 days in Las Vegas is too much for even us hard core rednecks to handle. The Cowboy Marketplace Show runs in conjunction with the National Rodeo Finals and features anything and everything you can imaging having to do with Cowboys, Rednecks, and HillBillies. I think I was most surprised to find out that there is a horse trailer out there that is a) nicer than my house and b) costs more! How about a horse trailer with hardwood floors and 2 (count ‘em) 2 bathrooms.
It was not the best week for HillBilly, but we sure had a great time. We met a lot of great people like Angela and Eric, the coolest hair curlers out there. We also met Babs and her crew from LaGrange Leather. You really have to check out her stuff, it is absolutely beautiful. Her belts are THE best and their boots are really great too. We also met ChristyAnn and JJ from Rodeo Beach. Even though they are competitors, they are a couple of really cool chicks and they have some really cool products like a ball cap that has a bottle opener installed in the brim so you will never be without one. We met Sues and Dawn from Ranchy Clothing Company. They weren’t brave enough to go out with the HillBilly Boys, but we did get ‘em to drink some beer.
We ventured out to Toby Keith’s place I Love This Bar and Grill. Its a very cool place and the beer girls (“What’s Up”, Michelle), the bartender and even the managers are all nice and personable. We met the newest band signed to Toby’s Show Dog Records music label, Trailer Choir (check out their MySpace Page). They have a couple of great songs on their MySpace page and from what we heard, they are working hard on a bunch of new ones too.
Well, I’ve probably said too much already. You know the old adage, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. See y’all out there on the road soon!

Colonel,
I am thinking about applying for a vendor space at the Marketplace at mandalay Bay. I have not heard many good things about the Mandalay Bay show. What is your opinion of this show compared to the others or this show in general. BYW, sounds like you had a great time regardless. Thanks in advance for your honesty!!!
Lynette,
We had a good time at the show, but I think it is the type of show that you need to pay your dues at. Many of the vendors have been going there for several years, we were the newbies. I belive that to be the case at all of the shows out there.
